I believe in the healing power of nutrition. I know that our gut is a HUGE contributor to our immune system and it’s literally where dopamine is made. I know that I feel better when I fuel my body with real, nutritious foods. I know that the world needs education when it comes to nutrition and the higher ups are denying the people that education for corrupt reasons.
You have more control over your health than you think, and being healthy doesn’t have to be hard or miserable. My goal is to educate and empower you on nutrition–not to make you feel like all the fun is sucked out of life.
Knowledge=power. However, sometimes nutritional knowledge can leave you feeling powerless and restricted. Trust me, I get it.
In a perfect world, we would never have to feel restricted when making healthy choices because restaurants would serve paleo crab cakes, grain free chips with *insert dip here*, kombucha and flourless cake for dessert. Unfortunately, that’s not a reality where I live. I have been that girl who tries to eat clean 100% of the time. I would go to a restaurant and force myself to get the healthiest thing on the menu, only to find that it sucked and left me feeling so unsatisfied.
When I make food for myself, I use my knowledge to create healthy yet delicious recipes. When I go out to eat, I eat whatever I want. Sometimes it’s a salad if it genuinely looks appealing, sometimes it’s a burger. (Side note: other times I micromanage the waiter into bringing me something that’s not on the menu. More on that here). It’s a balance. I know that forcing myself to be healthy all the time makes me absolutely insane and is not worth it.
You will gain knowledge from the posts in this section, but it’s important to remember that the insights you gain are simply tools in your tool box. Just because I am telling you that soy is not a health food, doesn’t mean that I think you should never set foot in a sushi restaurant again. It just means that next time you’re at the grocery store seeking a healthier pasta sauce in an attempt to heal your gut, you’ll use your newfound knowledge to read the nutrition label and opt for one without soy.
